This Privacy Policy explains how Taurang (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit taurang.com (the “Site”). By using the Site you agree to this policy.

1. Information you enter into tools

Our calculators, converters and text tools run entirely in your web browser using JavaScript. The numbers, text and files you enter are processed on your device and are not sent to or stored on our servers.

2. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, pages visited and the date and time of the request. We use this data to operate, secure and improve the Site. Logs are retained for a limited period and are not used to identify you personally.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a small number of first-party browser storage items (for example, to remember your cookie choice and light/dark theme). Third parties described below may also set cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We may display advertising served by Google AdSense and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent message, and personalized ads are only served with consent, as required by Google’s EU User Consent Policy.

5. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Google Analytics 4) to understand aggregate usage — which tools are popular and how pages perform. Analytics providers may use cookies and collect your IP address in truncated or anonymized form. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the browser add-on.

6. AI assistant

The optional “Ask AI” assistant sends the messages you type or speak (and, if you ask it to explain a result, the values shown in the current tool) to Anthropic, PBC, which provides the Claude AI model, so it can generate a reply. Voice input is converted to text by your browser’s built-in speech recognition, which may be processed by your browser provider (for example Google or Apple); replies are read aloud by your device. We do not use your messages to identify you. We store only a short-lived, hashed counter of your IP address to prevent abuse, and your conversation is kept in your browser tab only until you close it. Do not enter sensitive personal, financial or health information. Anthropic’s handling of data is described in its privacy policy.

6b. Member accounts

If you create a free account we collect your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), and optionally your phone number, city and country. We use this to run your account, confirm your email, secure the service and — only if you choose — to send you marketing. We also keep a record of each consent choice you make (what you agreed to, the wording shown and when) so we can prove and honor your choices. You can view, edit, download or delete your information at any time on your account page.

6c. Marketing emails and text messages

We send marketing emails only if you opt in, and text messages (SMS) only if you separately opt in and give a phone number. Consent is never a condition of creating an account. Every email contains an unsubscribe link; reply STOP to any text to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.

6d. Sharing with marketing partners and affiliates

Only if you tick the partner-sharing option, we may share your name and contact details (email, phone, city and country) with carefully selected marketing partners and affiliates so they can send you offers about their own products and services. Partners must agree to use the data only for that purpose, honor opt-out requests and keep it secure; their own privacy policies then also apply. Under some U.S. state laws (including California) this may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out at any time by unticking the option on your privacy choices page or by using the unsubscribe link in any email, and we will stop sharing your information going forward. We do not knowingly share information about anyone under 16.

6e. Contact form

If you contact us, we receive the name, email address and message you provide. We use them only to respond to you and keep correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request.

7. How we share information

We share limited data with service providers who help us run the Site (hosting, email delivery, advertising, analytics and AI processing), with marketing partners only when you have opted in as described above, when required by law, or to protect our rights and users. We do not otherwise sell or rent personal information.

8. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@taurang.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Our legal bases for processing are consent (advertising cookies), legitimate interests (security and site improvement) and, for enquiries, your request.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is a general-audience website and is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security and retention

We use HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords and reasonable safeguards. Because tool inputs never leave your device, the most sensitive information you work with is never transmitted to us. We keep account information until you delete your account; when you do, your profile is erased and only an anonymous record of past consent choices is retained as legally required proof.

11. International visitors

The Site is operated from the United States. Information collected by our service providers may be processed in the United States and other countries.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
